This Vegan Irish Soda Bread is our new tradition addition for this and every St. Patrick’s Day going forward. I had no idea baking this that it would taste better than the traditional Irish soda bread I am used to. It’s so Moist and delicious. The perfect addition to your St. Patrick’s Day feast.
This Vegan Irish Soda Bread is a quick bread. It’s moist, tasty, and easy! With only 6 Ingredients! It is the perfect complement to the corned beef and cabbage dish we all love on St. Patrick’s Day!
Not Only is it Vegan, it’s allergy friendly too!
Quick Back story, my son has multiple food allergies which includes dairy. Traditional Irish soda bread is made with buttermilk. That means if I made it this way, he wouldn’t have been able to enjoy it with us. So, what I did was… I used a rice milk substitute and oh my goodness did it this vegan Irish soda bread come out delicious!
Honestly, when using recipe’s make whatever substitutions you need for your allergies. It’s kind of a guessing game. Sometimes you have a winner of a dinner and other times well, hey you tried and that’s all that matters. When dealing with so many different food allergies, you need to get creative in the kitchen. This is exactly what I did here, and I’m so glad I did!
So here are the ingredients for Vegan Irish Soda Bread
makes 2 round loaves

8 cups of bread flour
2 teaspoons of baking soda
2 teaspoons of salt
3 1/2 cups of rice milk
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
4 tablespoons margarine
Directions for Vegan Irish Soda Bread:
Preheat the oven to 425 degree’s
Using a stand mixer and bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt.
In a separate bowl pour in the rice milk and lemon juice, stir and let stand for 10 minutes.
After the ten minutes add the rice milk mixture to the flour mixture. Using the dough hook mix on low speed about 5 minutes then add the melted margarine. Continue to mix for 3 more minutes.
Scrape out of the bowl onto a floured surface and shape into two round loaves. Flour your hands. This vegan Irish soda bread is a sticky dough.
Place on parchment paper covered pan.
Using a sharp, floured knife cut a cross over the top of each loaf and bake for about 45 minutes.
let cool slightly before serving.
