You don’t need money to have fun or create memories. Some of our favorite memories to look back on were the times we just enjoyed spending time together.
Have Fun And Be A Kid Yourself
You can create hours of entertainment, fun and learning all while being present and playing with your children. All for free this summer. There aren’t enough parents now a days who take the time to enjoy being a kid along with their kids.
Life goes by so fast and before you know it, your kids will be too busy to play with you. So, do it while they are young and create that bond with them. It’s far too often I see parents working, or just being too busy. Don’t just raise your kids, be a kid all over again with them have fun this summer and every summer!
Learn something new. Go on an adventure. See the wondrous look in their eyes from their joy playing “the floor is lava” with you and how good you are at it! There is nothing more spectacular than seeing the sparkle in their eyes when using their imagination.
We have always been the type of parents to play along with our kids really don’t understand why. It’s fun to play and be a kid! We have even gotten comments from other children, teenagers, and even other adults saying that we are the only parents they know who play with their kids.
Life is hard, short, and tough. Create those memories while you can. I promise you will have a blast doing it too!
So here it is, my top ten idea’s of easy, fun, free things you can do with your kids this summer. That will help you to create those lasting memories.
Top Ten Free Things To Do This Summer
1. Go fly a kite – these are some of our best memories. Running around trying to get the kite up will tire them out and create those cherished fun memories.
2. Get Library Passes – Some libraries give out free museum passes call first to see if it’s available and spend the day exploring the science museum, children’s museum, or Aquarium learning through curiosity.
3. Build something with them– move all the furniture and create a blanket fort, watch movies and eat snacks. play board games or even a video game in the fort.
Build Lego’s, Puzzles, or even Lincoln logs, or build the island of Sodor with all their Thomas trains.
4. Obstacle courses – Collect stuff from the yard or around the house and create an obstacle coarse, using the timer on your phone to see who is fastest. This helps with coordination and it’s just fun!
5. Spend the day at the public library. Some libraries do readings, or kids puppet shows. If not spend the day finding new fun adventures with books together. Go down the rabbit hole with Alice, a space journey, or read green eggs and ham then go home and make green eggs and ham!
6. Create with your imagination – Write a funny story, then act it out with costumes and record it to watch after. They will think this one is great and you have something to look back on when they are older. All the fun they had with you when they were you and will want to recreate that with their kids.
7. Bake and let them decorate or cook together. Let them choose the meal and let them cook it completely. While you supervise of course. They will be so excited to get to cook for you for once! this is great for learning ingredients, and kitchen safety as well.
8. Go to the park and play with them– the ground is lava is always a good one to last a long time! Tag, play catch there are so many great options
9. Do a science experiment– Mentos in soda is always a good one. Don’t be afraid to make a mess though. They will think it’s awesome to watch! You can find many kid friendly experiments online to keep you all having fun, busy and learning all afternoon.
10. Go on a scavenger hunt through the neighborhood. Before you leave make a list of all the things you need to find. Be creative with this and you can have a blast.
